Summer Ambience

Here is a little mix of songs that just FEEL like summer to me. This is just one of the many "SUMMER" themed playlists I will publish this summer season.

Remember my taste is random so some of my choices might not be a good fit for you, feel free to move on to next song in my list. =) Happy listening!

1. "Jilted Lovers" by The Naked and Famous
This ENTIRE ALBUM is amazing! I am currently obsessed.

2. "Baptism" by Crystal Castles
I just want to DANCE.

3."Tonight" by Lykke Li
I love her.

4. "So Insane" by Discovery
Feels like a fun party song. Listen all the way through, it grows on you.

5. "Elements" by A Fine Frenzy
So Pretty.

6. "Icarus" by Winter Hinterland
PERFECT summer song! LOVE this.

7. "Heartless (COVER)" performed by Dia Frampton
I am addicted to watching The Voice on NBC and this artist is amazing. Also, I recently discovered tonight that this is Dia as in "Meg & Dia"! Not sure if you have heard them but they have some good stuff I will most likely mention this summer. I read on her bio that she has been working independently to produce music so hopefully this show will ignite her career. Her rendition of Heartless was so creative and she has an amazing voice.
Watch the live performance.

8. "Angels" by Owl City
I heart Owl City.

Gravity Rides Everything

Just went to TWO amazing shows within 4 days of each other! It was a perfect exhibition of live music at its finest.

May 26th @ The Knitting Factory
Modest Mouse
Openers: Talkdemonic

1. Talkdemonic

Loved the violin!

2. Modest Mouse

I was beyond impressed with this show! My friend told me I wouldn't be let down, definitely wasn't. A recent song I am in LOVE with is "Gravity Rides Everything", loved the live rendition! This song is a current life anthem for me, I NEED it! Incredible.

Their lyrics are genius!

Oh, got to see, got to know right now
What's that riding on your everything?
It isn't anything at all

Oh, got to see, got to know right now
What's that writing on your shelf
In the bathrooms and the bad motels
No one really cared for it at all
Not the gravity plan

Early, early in the morning
It pulls all on down my sore feet
I want to go back to sleep

In the motions and the things that you say
It all will fall, fall right into place
As fruit drops, flesh it sags
Everything will fall right into place
When we die, some sink and some lay
But at least I don't see you float away
And all the spilt milk, sex and weight
It all will fall, fall right into place

Oh, got to see, got to know right now
What's that riding on your everything?
It isn't anything at all

Early, early in the morning
It pulls all on down my sore feet
I want to go back to sleep

In the motions and the things that you say
It all will fall, fall right into place
As fruit drops, flesh it sags
Everything will fall right into place
When we die, some sink and some lay
But I won't stop until you float away

May 30 @ The Knitting Factory
Iron & Wine
Openers:  The Head and The Heart

1. The Head and The Heart
I love their energy! So much fun.  They also have a great vibe to their music.

Love the lyrics to this one!

Gorgeous.

2. Iron & Wine

He has the most amazing singing voice, I cannot believe how immaculate he sounds live! I love his stage presence, he does a great job at making the crowd feel involved.

"Naked As We Came" ENCORE!! Couldn't have been a better choice. I couldn't help but sing along which I was apprehensive about since I am so loud when I sing. When the song was over the guy in front of me told me that I have a lovely singing voice. Once in awhile I don't mind those compliments, especially in such an amazing moment!

A fave right now (that he didn't play live).

Love.

This is also AMAZING!

You should listen to his entire discography! Also his new album "Kiss Each Other Clean" is very different from his other stuff. But still awesome!

Well I look forward to some other amazing shows in the future!

Recent Randoms

I took a break from keeping up with my blog.....main reason being there is just too much music to LOVE!  So just for the record instead of sticking to a theme every post is just going to be a random relation to music in some way.  I am trying to not over think this, just go with it!

I do not claim to know anything about the technicality and talent it takes to create music, I just enjoy it thoroughly.  I like what I like and usually people like the bands and songs I suggest....so why not share it with my friends & the internet world?

Music is the heartbeat of my life so share the love.  This blog is for ONLY POSITIVE comments.  I am not here to judge what other people enjoy so please respect what I care about as well.

Also, my choices are so random so if you don't like a song just skip to the next, it actually might fit your taste!

Happy Listening!

1.  "The Intro" by The XX.
I love good use of music in movies.  Totally has the power to influence an emotional reaction that is unforgettable.  Anyone remember LET GO from Garden State?  Here is another example:  It's Kind of A Funny Story.  I am not sure how I completely feel about the movie itself as a whole, but there are some pretty incredible moments.  One includes the main character "checking out" while he is creating an architectural  piece of art.  Thank you to The XX for the beautiful soundtrack in that scene!

I couldn't find the clip from the movie (so you need to watch it) but here is the song:

2. "Crystalised" by The XX
This entire self titled album is AMAZING.  I listen to it a lot when I am applying for jobs & it so helps me focus and just feel relaxed.  Love the beat in this song, pretty sexy if you ask me.

"So don't think that I'm pushing you away
When you're the one that I've kept closest"

3. Quick shout out to one of my favorite bands of all time....UNDEROATH! They don't exactly fit the mold of what I what I listen to right at this moment in my life but they still give me that extra shot of adrenaline when needed. Saw them in February of this year, still amazing!
So with that said, I have to share this:

4. "Latin America" by Holy Fuck
So I discovered this band because yeah, the name caught my eye.  I used to hate music without lyrics that felt like it just went on and on.  Well not anymore.  This band feels like it could be a soundtrack in my life's adventures.

5. "Lovely Allen" by Holy Fuck
So even if you didn't like the other song I posted by them LISTEN to this one! I want to do a silent theatre skit with this someday....

6. "Hello" by Martin Solveig feat. Dragonette
Recent conversation with my friend: I don't usually like music on the radio but I actually like this, I was shocked! Haha.
